Debra Chikazhe

Registered Psychologist

Debra is a warm, relational, and highly experienced psychologist who brings over a decade of expertise to her work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families. Practicing since 2011, she draws on diverse background spanning hospital, school and private practice settings. Her approach is grounded in collaboration, empowerment, and a belief that every client has the capacity for meaningful growth and change.

Debra supports individuals and couples navigating a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, relationship and parenting challenges, autism, ADHD, school-related issues, and major life transitions. She has a particular passion for helping clients reduce the impact of chronic stress and restore balance in their lives—whether related to work, caregiving, or emotional overload.

In couples and relationship work, Debra helps clients break through cycles of disconnection, improve communication, and rebuild trust. Her approach strengthens relational dynamics not only in romantic partnerships, but also within families and other close relationships. She believes that feeling safe, seen, and understood is foundational to emotional wellbeing—and she brings this lens to all of her therapeutic work.

Debra draws from a variety of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Collaborative Problem Solving. She also incorporates Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)—a specialized form of CBT designed to help clients process and heal from trauma-related symptoms, particularly those related to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Each session is carefully tailored to the client’s unique needs, with a strong emphasis on strengths, safety, and long-term resilience.

She is also experienced in working with third-party referrals including WCB, AMA/Unify, and insurance providers for stress leave, MVA recovery, and other assessments and treatments.
