Beneath the surface, something more is possible
You look capable. You keep moving. But underneath, there's a weight you've been carrying; unresolved trauma, grief that won't settle, or a bone-deep exhaustion that rest doesn't fix. You may have tried therapy before, or you may have been waiting until you were "ready." Megan works with those who have run out of patience for waiting, who want more than coping.
Megan Emery is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors & a Certified Canadian Counsellor with CCPA holding a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and a Master of Science in the Social Dimensions of Health from the University of Victoria, where her graduate thesis examined the treatment of the trauma of racial systemic oppression. Her sessions are active, collaborative, and built for people who are ready to do the work and to feel better.
Before becoming a therapist, Megan spent nearly two decades in tech and digital media, including ten years as a Senior Producer at Patagonia, and seven years teaching graduate-level counselling courses at Pacifica Graduate Institute. Credentials & Registration

CONCERN FOCUS
What Megan helps with
Megan works with adults carrying what life has handed them; often beneath a surface that looks capable and composed. She specializes in the weight that doesn't disappear on its own.
Complex Trauma
Working with the long shadow of what happened — not just what you remember, but what lives in your body and shapes your days.
Grief & Loss
Moving through loss without rushing past it; finding a path through grief that honours what was and what still is.
Burnout & Exhaustion
The quiet depletion of high-pressure professional life; addressed at its root, not just its surface symptoms.
Marginalized Identities
Affirming, experienced care for those navigating the compounded stress of living in a world not designed with them in mind.
Racial & Systemic Trauma
Rooted in graduate research on the trauma of racial systemic oppression, bringing clinical depth to work other therapists may avoid.
Anxiety
Understanding the nervous system beneath the worry and building lasting capacity for regulation and ease.
Identity & Life Transitions
Navigating who you are, and who you're becoming, through change, loss, and the major pivots life asks of you.
Professional & Executive Stress
Support for those operating at a high level who know the weight of responsibility and the cost of carrying it alone.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACHEvidence-based methods, tailored to your nervous system
Megan draws from a range of well-researched modalities; always calibrated to what you're carrying, where you're stuck, and what your system is ready for.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing
A highly effective, evidence-based approach for processing traumatic memories; reducing their charge without requiring you to talk through them in detail. Megan is trained at Levels I & II.
SOMATIC
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
Working with trauma held in the body; not just the mind. This body-based approach helps clients move beyond insight into genuine, felt-sense healing.
DBT
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Practical skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and navigating interpersonal dynamics; especially for those who feel things with intensity.
PSYCHODYNAMIC
Psychodynamic Therapy
Exploring the deeper roots of current patterns; how early experience, attachment, and unconscious dynamics shape the way you move through the world.
NARRATIVE
Narrative Therapy
Separating who you are from the stories that have defined you; and authoring a new relationship with your own experience and identity.
ANTI-OPPRESIVE
Equity-Centred & Anti-Oppressive Practice
Therapy that acknowledges the real impact of systemic oppression, informed by graduate research and a genuine commitment to justice-oriented care.
