01 · Does this sound familiar?

When everyday life takes more effort than it should.

  • Starting tasks feels impossible, even ones you care about
  • Time slips away, and deadlines sneak up
  • Your mind jumps between ideas, or locks on so tightly that everything else disappears
  • Big feelings show up fast and take a while to settle
  • You work twice as hard to keep up, and still feel behind
  • Homework, mornings or bedtime routines turn into daily battles
  • Forgotten plans or unfinished chores create tension with people you love
  • You’ve spent years being told to “just try harder”

These experiences aren’t a character flaw or a lack of effort. With the right understanding and support, things can feel more manageable.

02 · Who we help

Support for every stage of life with ADHD.

ADHD looks different for everyone. We tailor support to your age, your goals and the people around you:

  • ChildrenBuilding focus, emotional regulation, confidence and friendship skills in ways that feel encouraging, not shaming
  • TeensManaging school demands, motivation, independence and self-esteem during a time of big change
  • AdultsPractical strategies for time, organization and overwhelm, and space to process a diagnosis that came later in life
  • ParentsCalmer routines, fewer power struggles and confidence advocating for your child at school
  • CouplesUnderstanding how ADHD shows up in your relationship, sharing the load more fairly and reconnecting

Many people with ADHD also experience anxiety, low mood or burnout. We can support these too, as part of the same work.

03 · How we help

Approaches we use for ADHD

The goal isn’t to fix who you are. It’s to make life work better for the way your brain works.

I

Understanding ADHD

Learning how ADHD affects attention, motivation and emotions can bring relief and replace self-blame with self-understanding.

II

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Practical tools for planning, follow-through, procrastination and unhelpful thinking patterns. See CBT in Calgary.

III

Executive functioning strategies

Systems for time, routines, organization and getting started that fit your real life, not an idealized one.

IV

Emotional regulation

Skills for frustration, overwhelm and rejection sensitivity, including body-based strategies to settle your nervous system.

V

Parent & family support

Structure, connection and collaborative problem solving that help home feel calmer for everyone. See parent support & coaching.

The Canadian ADHD Practice Guidelines recommend non-medication supports, such as education about ADHD, skills-based therapy and parent training, as part of care for children, teens and adults. Counselling can be helpful on its own or alongside medical care from your doctor. Source: CADDRA, Canadian ADHD Practice Guidelines.

Your questions about ADHD counselling.

FREE RESOURCES

Do I need an ADHD diagnosis to start counselling?

No. Many clients come to us wondering whether ADHD might be part of the picture, and we can work on the challenges you’re facing either way. Only a qualified professional can diagnose ADHD.

Do you offer ADHD assessments?

We don’t currently offer ADHD assessments. Your family doctor can talk with you about assessment options, and our Calgary ADHD resource guide lists places to start. Our ADHD observations worksheet can help you prepare.

Can counselling help if I’m already taking medication?

Yes. Counselling and medication work in different ways, and many people find the two together helpful. Questions about medication are best answered by your doctor or pharmacist, and with your consent, we’re happy to coordinate care.

Do you work with children, or just adults?

Both. We support children, teens, adults, parents and couples. For children, parents are often involved so strategies carry over at home.

Is online counselling an option?

Yes. We offer secure online sessions across Alberta, which some clients with ADHD find easier to fit into busy schedules.

Will my benefits cover sessions?

Many extended health plans in Alberta cover therapy with a Registered Psychologist, and a growing number also cover Canadian Certified Counsellors. Check who is covered and your annual limits, and see our fees page.

What if I need help right now?

If you’re in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 any time, or call 911. Kids and teens can reach Kids Help Phone at 1-800-668-6868 or text CONNECT to 686868.

You don’t have to figure out ADHD on your own.

Book a free 15-minute consultation, or send us a short email and our client care coordinator will match you with the therapist who may be the best fit. We’ll listen, answer your questions and help you find the right next step.
